The Open 2011
Royal St George's is to be the venue for The Open in 2011. Royal St George's last hosted the Championship in 2003. St George's, at Sandwich on the Kent coast, was the first course outside Scotland to host the Championship in 1894. It is the southern-most venue on The Open rota and winners include J H Taylor, Harry Vardon, Walter Hagen, Henry Cotton, Bobby Locke, Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman.
St. George’s has hosted many major tournaments including; The Walker Cup, The Curtis Cup, The Amateur, the English Amateur, The PGA Championship, the Home Internationals and the Brabazon Trophy and is due to host the Boys Amateur Championship in 2009.
